R.I.P.D.

Mardi matin, je marchais tranquillement dans la rue pour aller prendre le bus, et c'était un petit peu la pagaille. La rue principale était bloquée, il y avait des policiers partout et puis un grand attroupement, juste en face de Dunkin' Donuts (parce que tant qu'à faire, on va se mettre quelque part où on peut avoir des donuts, pas vrai?). Et là, il y avait des gens avec des talkie-walkies, des badges de toutes les couleurs, tout un tas de matériel super high-tech et...une voiture de sport, toute seule au milieu de la rue. Et ensuite, j'ai vu cette voiture toute noire avec une énorme caméra. Je n'ai pas très bien compris ce qu'il se passait.

On Tuesday morning, I was walking down the street to go take my bus, and it was kind of a mess downtown. The main street was closed to cars, there were cops everywhere and there was a big crowd, just in front of Dunkin' Donuts (because you know, if they're going to spend hours working outside, they might as well do it some place where they can get donuts easily.) And there, there were people with walkies, lots of technical stuff and...a sport car, all by itself in the middle of the street. Then, I saw this big black car with the big camera on top of it. I didn't really understand what was going on.

Et ce n'est que le lendemain, quand je descendais à nouveau prendre le bus et qu'ils étaient encore tous là à s'affairer comme des fourmis pressées, que j'ai appris qu'ils tournaient une scène de course poursuite d'un film qui s'appelle R.I.P.D. C'est un film sur des policiers, ce que explique en partie pourquoi il y avait tellement d'hommes en uniforme qui ne semblaient pas trop se préoccuper de la circulation. C'est parce ce n'était pas des vrais policiers! C'était des cascadeurs. Et en faisant un peu de recherche, j'ai appris que R.I.P.D ne voulait pas dire Rhode Island Police District mais Rest In Peace Departement. Et vous voulez savoir de quoi parle le film? Attachez vos ceintures, c'est assez original. C'est l'histoire de policiers qui sont morts, mais même en étant morts, ils continuent à faire régner l'ordre dans le royaume des défunts. Et il y a ce nouveau policier mort qui vient d'arriver et qui joint la brigade, et le film raconte sont histoire. Le film est censé sortir en 2013, il est tourné par Universal Studios et apparemment, Ryan Reynolds joue dedans, mais à Providence, c'était juste la deuxième équipe et tout ce que j'ai vu des acteurs, c'était une voiture de sport. Mais c'était drôle de voir toute cette agitation quand toi, tout ce que tu veux, c'est qu'ils te laissent passer pour ne pas que tu rates le bus!

The next morning when I was once again going down the street to the bus stop, all these people were still working in the street. I asked what was going on and I was told that they were actually shooting a car chase for a movie called R.I.P.D. It's about cops, which actually explains why there were so many of them in the streets, so many of them not interested in public safety. It's because they weren't real cops! They were just there for the stunts! I did a little bit of research to find out that R.I.P.D doesn't stand for Rhode Island Police District like I thought it did, but for Rest In Peace Departement. Do you want to know what's the movie's about? Bear with me, it's kind of original. It's about cops who are dead but even if they passed away, they're still working to protect people in the underworld. There's this new dead cop joining the crew, and the movie is about his story, I think. The movie's supposed to be released in 2013, it's a Universal Studios movie, and Ryan Reynolds is acting in it, but in Providence it was only the Second Unit working so the only actor I saw was the sport car! But it was funny to see all this agitation in the street when all I wanted was to be able to cross so I wouldn't miss my bus!
